Our champion from last round, CardboardNomad, has chosen Unbridled Growth as our build around card for this round. Much like Desert, the abilities on this card aren't exactly breakable in themselves but perhaps they can enable other cards in a way that enhances their value greatly? We shall hopefully see.

The rules:
0. The deck must contain a full playset of Unbridled Growths.
1. The deck must attempt to break the chosen card in some way, where “breaking” is defined as finding a combination of cards that work with the chosen card in such a way as to provide value beyond its base effects. Ideally a good break the card build should make these mechanisms a core part of the deck rather than a token inclusion.
3. The building part of the contest will last for a week. After that, I'll still consider submissions, but probably with some sort of late penalty. Also, there is no rule 2 this round.
4. Submissions must be sent by PM.
5.a. Judging is open to anyone who tries each submission. Judges can use any pertinent scoring criteria they choose but must submit their final score in a ranking format as follows:
Last place gets 0 points
2nd to last gets 1 point
...
First place gets n-1 points where n is the number of submissions.
In case of ties, add together the points for the ranks that the tied submissions would occupy if not tied and then split the results as follows:
Tie for last place would get (0 + 1)/2 = 0.5 points each.
After the judging period is over, I will tally all the points given and announce the winner(s).
5.b. Anyone who chooses to participate in the judging MUST PM me their final results. Additionally, I require that they list the decks in the same order that I post them, rather than ordered by their ranking. This is because trying to tally the scores is much simpler if the lists are all in the same order. When I post the decks to start the judging round, I typically list them in the order that I received them. I also update the OP with the same list in the same order.
6. The winner of each round gets to pick a card or theme for the next round (provided their choice doesn't totally suck).

The deadline for submissions for this round shall be... Thursday, March 8th. largely irrelevant!

Here are our submissions for Round 8 of the Break the Card Contest!

DCG-MTG:
Aurangels

Cucho Lambreta:
Revolt to delirium

TheFlakyMage:

Hoo boy did we get shafted on playables for delirium. Never really thought about it until I saw the slim pickings with singleton Mindwrack and Ishkanah along with no Grim Flayer at all.

Well, remember that everything is relative. We might have crap compared to the real MTG pool for delirium but we also have crap compared to the real MTG pool for everything else, too. I had a delirium build that was capable of climbing the ladder with no issues back in the Kaladesh cycle.

Stupid nor’easter knocked our power out early this afternoon and it looks like it could be a while before they get it fixed. :/

I like that cut Mowie - was testing something ~those lines - basically a constrictor/rallier list but tilted towards energy (4c aggro? It's running harnessed lightning instead of the unmaking and aetherstorm roc/bristling hydra at the top end in lieu of the walkers/gearhulk) It's been playing surprisingly well considering (3-0 on the ladder so far against pretty legit decks, including a T5 swingback for lethal vs. a solemn recruit with angelic destiny). Fatal push is so busted with ample revolt triggers.

I'll probably take a shot at some sort of converge control list too (maybe with sigil of the empty throne?)

If only Niblis of Frost cared about noncreature spells for its ability, the shenanigans would've been plentiful. Alas.

Lost a night of testing as the Xbox was commandeered for other uses, hoping to finish something in time though.

Well that's a new one, had an opponent complain about my "cookie cutter" deck.

You got me Opp, I'm a sucker for those T1 Unbridled netdecks.

Yuck, I'm still trying to find something that makes me happy with my own pick! Disgraceful. Should have picked a werewolf or something.

And it's weird, too, how I do my arena grind and hate all the decks there, but then I come back to the bountiful possibilities of duels and just can't muster any creativity.

Hmm... I’ve got one entry so far. I have a deck but it’s untested and likely terribad. Should I extend deadline to weekend? Maybe Sunday?

You all look like your having so much fun. Screw Duels. I can't wait until all of y'all are playing Arena and populating that sub-forum.
Looking forward to some tournaments!
Until then....
