@Nuke, the Kozilek is there for the uncounterable draw and because it will shuffle all your threats back in. mobius was correct to suggest Elixir, but Kozilek either wins the game or has the same effect while grabbing you four cards. Bone Wand is the inevitablity that the deck needed because now your removal spells are also throwing incremental damage at your opponent's face. And Rune-Scarred Demon is there to grab whichever of those two that you happen to need right now.

I love it, but I have an unhealthy obsession with control decks and with Grixis in general.
Yep I figured that. I'm actually tempted to sneak another Rune demon in....just because I like that card :D

From the top of my head I think this is the build I have:

3 x Rakdos Guildgate
3 x Dimir Guildgate
6 x Swamp
6 x Island
6 x Mountain
4 x Traveler's Amulet
4 x Shock
2 x Dead Weight
4 x Think Twice
2 x Anger of the Gods
2 x Graveborn Muse
4 x Liliana's Specter
3 x Tribute to Hunger
4 x Coral Barrier
2 x Indulgent Tormentor
1 x Inferno Titan
2 x Rune-scarred Demon
1 x Griselbrand
1 x Suffer the Past

This is work in progress.

Its more creature heavy and it has more black then any other color. Let me know what you guys think.

I tried this out hoping for fun against the AI and I don't know if its me or bad luck but the deck just doesn't have any board presence to make it work, sure you can kill stuff over and over but after you're just stuck drawing lands or in my case drawing lands anyway when you need your win conditions. I even tried Mobius changes that he said about on the other forum and it didn't help >< I understand what he meant now by "How are you winning". Then again I'm not facing the AI only decks so that might be part of the problem. Lets just say this Grixis deck suffers against Mega's mono black control which has board presence as well as control elements.

I'm not hating your build btw just saying my experience from 5 games played against the AI, perhaps some Pharika's Chosen could be added to ward off early attacks. Pretty much what I'm saying is the deck needs some early creatures to stop the opponent aggroing you down or just getting creature advantage, you can kill their creatures all you want but eventually they will get them to stick, your out of removal and now you're just top decking land etc.

Playing removal-heavy decks without board presence isn't for everyone, but I love it; with that said, I did make a few changes but it was mostly at the top end. Here's the current list:

4 x Izzet Guildgate
4 x Dimir Guildgate
4 x Rakdos Guildgate
8 x Mountain
5 x Swamp

4 x Shock

4 x Think Twice
1 x Volcanic Geyser

4 x Bolt of Keranos
4 x Auger Spree
3 x Tribute to Hunger
2 x Anger of the Gods

4 x Ogre Jailbreaker
3 x Inspiration

2 x Flesh to Dust
1 x Stormbreath Dragon

1 x Rune-Scarred Demon
1 x Sphinx Bone Wand

1 x Kozilek, Butcher of Truth

Sit back, kill everything, profit. I played this deck for several hours last night and only lost three games, getting up to the top 30 on the Xbox leaderboards by the time I was done. Really fun deck if you like to play control.

Sweet, my first 'Keem build to test out. Looking forward to it. As always, thanks for your contributions, 'Keemster.

Also, this is reminiscent of my most favorite DotP deck, "Mana Mastery".

I see a deck like that and think that its the type of deck Jalira, Master Polymorphist is made for. Not sure she'd make the cut, though. Maybe a singleton Auger Spree instead of the Suffer the Past.

Hakeem I like your new version better than your other one for some reason, at least the removal seems to be working a lot better and it has relevent creature threats to drop. Of course I have only done one battle against the AI so I will have to test it more but to me if a deck works really well from the start then its a good sign. Your last one was....well durdling too much :P

lol, I like to durdle in general, but at least now I get to win by doing so through Sphinx-Bone Wand.

I'm not sure I'd trust testing against the AI, though, unless you're doing the practice duels against your own decks. The encounters are built with specific strategies in mind and sometimes you'll find that a certain deck can't beat a certain encounter. While that's endemic to Magic (rock, paper, scissors, and all that), I think this Grixis deck is well-positioned to bring into the online lobbies because it is packed with creature removal in a creature-based format.

Another thing this deck has going for it is that nine of the removal spells can also point at the face for direct damage.

Oh, and any control deck that has access to Anger of the Gods is in a pretty good position. Add in all the draw power because of the blue splash, and you'll see it more often than most decks would. Don't forget that Rune-Scarred Demon can grab it, too; I just beat a Spider Spawning deck by tutoring Anger.

But the real All-Star of the deck has to be the Jailbreaker; He's a huge roadblock for aggressive opponents because you have so much removal that they can't go wide around him. Then there are times when you just keep the board clean with your ample removal and this guy gets in for four every single turn. The fact that he survives Anger and gets in for four on the turn you cast it is just sweet, delicious gravy.

I'm currently ranked 20th on XBLA on the back of this deck.

Hakeem - I gave it a shot in multiplayer and, guess what, it works well there as well!

I do play it on practice match against the other decks that I or others have created yes :) Only done some multiplayer matches though in player match and I'm not impressed by the competition. Came across 3 decks with other 60 cards and 2 decks where the people left after one mulligan. All the decks were campaign based you could say. I don't think the meta is that friendly to those that don't know how to trim their deck but then the same thing happened with pre-cons :D

I run Griselbrand, what is your opinion on that card Hakeem?

I effing love the card, but I can't play it here. My manabase is red-heavy and is very intensive, even at 8CMC. This type of control deck can't just drop him and draw seven because life is a valuable resource here, so I need to untap and connect with him before I start getting some value.

It makes me sad, but we'll appoint him coach of the team, how's that?

Got to agree totally. I love Griselbrand too and sure wish last version's demon deck had it. ...Maybe that would have made that deck top tier with just one of them alone.

It CAN go into a b/g if you use enough recursion and the like but not in a r/b....wait a second....yeah, it can go into a r/b if you focus on black's recursion. Another trick to this is the Pyxis of Pandemonium and Millstone used on yourself. Dead Reckoning, Rescue from the Underworld a must. Perhaps a couple of mind rot to also use on yourself if the fatty(or fatties) show up in hand instead.

Why play Coral Barrier instead of Guard Gomazoa ? Or Vent Sentinel ? Or Corpse Blockade ?
Edit.: Actually, you should instead run a x/4 wall. otherwise, Anger of the Gods is a nonbo.

Extensive deck testing has led me to realize that this deck works far better with blue sources of mana in it....

I gave this deck a spin and it's really not that good. It's very slow to do anything, and with so little removal it can get overrun by really aggressive decks or large creatures. Against aggro you really have to hope you get one of your two Angers. Also, the deck is seriously wanting some sort of draw. Furthermore, losing a couple of walls really grinds this deck to a halt. It just takes so much mana to be able to do anything.

My first try with Walls was with Grixis since it's kind of obvious. But once I got the Premiums, I removed Black for White and the deck improved a lot.

Hakeem, I LOVE this build of yours! Totally my style of play too.

Have you seen RatKillers American deck? ALSO REALLY GREAT DECK for us control freaks!

Check out my Red/Black/White End of Days deck too! AWESOME BUILD as well! (with an awesome theme to boot!)

After playing with Hakeem's build again last night...yeah, that's a sick deck that's just a ton of fun to play with. Shidoshi did manage to get me with his reanimator deck, but, the 2nd game, the MVP of that deck (Sphinx-Bone Wand) was able to close it just in time.

Suffer the past has come in handy in few ways, one is screwing someone out of a Rescue from the Underworld. Other is been just pushing damage and getting you life back. I am looking to change quite a few cards. The walls, as you pointed out, are not playing well with Anger of the Gods and neither is Indulgent Tormentor or Graveborn Muse but I would take all of those cards out before I remove Anger of the Gods. My build needs quite a bit of revision to be honest. I will look at Hakeem's build and take ideas or outright run his set.

I call it "Butchered" because it kills everything and features Kozilek at the top end. Once you get some more experience with it, let me know what cards are over or underperforming so we can tweak the list. I'm thinking of cutting Stormbreath for the second Rune-Scarred Demon, actually, because tutoring Kozilek, the Wand, or Anger of the Gods is a really powerful play.

At first I was not confident about 3 color decks, but decided to give it a try, now I'm impressed! Hakeem build runs pretty well!
Sphinx-Bone Wand is the main game winner, while Stormbreath Dragon does't performed as expected (the second Rune-Scarred Demon will take his place).

I have "Butchered" only 2 or 3 oponents, is not easy to hardcast that monster... But the best part is to make people rage quit when mill decks strategy fail against Kozilek.

bad spelling... i know, I'm not a native english speaker. Sorry

I am going to make that change, Varg, and I am also going to replace the Volcanic Geyser with a third Flesh to Dust; Bone Wand and Kozilek fulfill the finisher role for me now and they're tutorable through the Demons. Geyser was never here to be used as removal but just as a mana sink in the lategame and I don't need that anymore.

4 x Izzet Guildgate
4 x Dimir GUildgate
4 x Rakdos Guildgate
8 x Mountain
5 x Swamp

4 x Shock

4 x Think Twice

4 x Bolt of Keranos
4 x Auger Spree
3 x Tribute to Hunger
2 x Anger of the Gods

4 x Ogre Jailbreaker
3 x Inspiration

3 x Flesh to Dust

2 x Rune-Scarred Demon
1 x Sphinx-Bone Wand

1 x Kozilek, Butcher of Truth

Perhaps the third Flesh to Dust may help against decks with big creatures, but I do not know if I can get rid of Volcanic Geyser, sometimes it can ensure victory in long matches.
