1: it is time for my once-every five year rant re: shocklands were deliberately named to fit on any plane; and there could be such great variety of art, so why always here? Mostly rhetorical.

2. I like the flavor text; not too on the nose, but suggestive of a certain flexibility in interpreting the card name. A window into a story for each.

I might like the dimir one more than the previous printings, but outside of that, I think all of them had superior art previously.
That said, I like the flavor text of some of these, particularly the Boros one, and particularly not the Izzet one.

I would have liked the Izzet flavor text better if it had been spoken by an Azorius.

It is amusing that shocklands was when they decided all duals should have generic names for reusability in multiple worlds, and yet shocks became so tightly tied to Ravnica regardless of that.

I'd probably blame the fact that they are only really needed when there is a heavy multi-color theme, and when we get one since then, it's usually either a Ravnica block, or Ravnica has been or will be relatively close in time to it, and they don't want to always do the same type of duals, but Ravnica will have players expecting it, so they can't do it in another setting if Ravnica is nearby time wise.

They at least have proven they are willing to print them for other planes at all (if in a wonky way that doesn't necessarily do much for supply) via the Zendikar masterpieces.

So I'd blame it more on them re-using Ravnica a lot than not taking advantage of the generic names.
