My primary design goal was really to make a 1-mana charm with escalate 3 where paying 4 or 7 mana felt pretty okay. I could see the third mode being oppressive if you can recast the card over and over in order to loop a high cost card on top of their library over and over, but on the base, I think it's fair to make your opponent skip a draw step at the cost of a card, especially when it comes with an added risk.

that said I spent too much time trying to think of gimmicky approaches to the criteria instead of trying to make a resonant card design and really I think you're to blame for that

In lieu of capping the number of participants, I made the criteria for last round a bit hard to design for on purpose. In particular, three abilities and four colors are fairly hard to justify on most cards. There were some great designs despite this, but a majority of submissions earned warnings. Don't take this as a severe condemnation of your card or your person, it's more that a few submissions stood out more than the rest and I'm kind of experimenting with the contest structure.

Standings


Your command for the second round is as follows:

Choose two —
• Your card must allow its controller to lose life.
• Your card must allow its controller to discard one or more cards.
• Your card must allow its controller to sacrifice one or more permanents.
• Your card must allow its controller to move one or more cards from their library into a zone other than the hand.

I'll close this next Saturday at 9 AM Pacific.

Aww, was sure I had fixed the wording to only give away the artifact if you took control of something else and that it remained on your side if you used it to give away stuff, so it was more like a noncreature bazaar trader/ legendary goat than harmless offering. I guess that even if it did it come out too wordy and complicated.

Notes:
Allows its controller to lose life.
Allows its controller to discard one or more cards.
X is set when you cast it, so the more cards you draw & discard, the more life you have to pay for each discard you want to cast (Including if you Madness out Revel itself -- in theory if you cast it off a Turn 1 One With Nothing you could get 3 of your top 4 without dying: 4 life to madness Revel with X = 4 and 3 madness casts for X (4) Life each out of what you draw and discard -- or 16 life total plus :b: for the One With Nothing). This is intended to create a balance between low X values (You can't control what you get very well and won't get much but it will cost almost nothing) and large X values (you pull enough that you'll probably get something good, but you have to pay a lot of life for it, especially if you want more than one.)
