Yes, I'm still in. I intend to fite you, if I don't go crazy waiting for the results first.

NGA's got two dogs in this fite! My money's on the one in the go-kart, because it also has a gun.

And you are a cat. Still only 2 dogs in this fight.
Congrats though.

Aren't there only 90-ish people in the round? NGA represents 1/30th of the field then. I don't suppose anybody's got an idea of where (if anywhere) on the net other contenders sharpened their skills?

There are at least three or four Tumblr blogs run by custom card designers that were/are still in the contest.

I have to say that for MaRo's essay answer, his answer for #5 and #9 strike me as incredibly weak. If I were to ask Rosewater what the best part of magic is, he would basically tell me "Magic is a board game, you get to interact with people!" Wow, really?! I only have like 30 or so of those, I guess I don't really need to play Magic then.
And for #9, his answer is "some of the cards in Prophecy were cool", which is a massive cop-out.

Meld is one of those ideas that would be great if you didn't have to worry about literally any of the practical issues, but it has problems on like so many different levels. I can see why it feels like something that just didn't get a fair shake, but I think it's a pretty weak answer.

Honestly I think scry, cycling, and maybe a new third mechanic but unsure what, should be deciduous with sets choosing one to fit its needs.

After some thought, Investigate pops to mind as a possible third. Each uses a different zone for consistency (Scry Deck, Cycle Hand, and Investigate Field).

I didn't mean I made it into the finals, TP.

I meant that there's a specific third person I expect to win.

I really loved Investigate but I thought it got a fair shake, so I wouldn't have used it in my essay.

No I wasn’t saying Investigate as an essay amswer. The opposite really since I think it should be deciduous not evergreen.

The test is up https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/a ... 2018-02-12

I would have made it if I was in the USA. I got 74/75, got #32 wrong ("you want play design to like it").

I'm surprised they'd be more likely to print Llanowar than bolt, Llanowar at its current cost causes a lot of problems with format speed.

I believe their thinking is that they would rather reprint a card that speeds up the format that reprint one that requires them to make sure all the splashy Standard cards have a 4+ toughness.
